Hello, my name is Deva. I heard about Miami Valley Women’s Center through several different avenues: my doctor, my insurance company, CareSource, and from my caseworker in the Help Me Grow program.
I had recently quit my main job to do my side job full time and I was also in the middle of moving when I found out that I was pregnant. A few months earlier, I had been told it would be close to impossible for me to get pregnant without medical help, which would not have been covered by insurance, so I knew this baby was a gift.
So here I was – 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant in the middle of a pandemic. After months of dipping back and forth through depression and acceptance, I still knew my baby was a blessing. This was my first child and while I have been around children throughout my life, I knew I needed the birthing classes and parenting classes. Due to the health crisis, most programs were suspended and other places were too pricey. So when I was told I could go through Miami Valley Women’s Center free of charge, I didn’t hesitate to contact them. I went through the MOMs program and gained very insightful information and a multitude of items for my baby like a crib, car seat, clothes, and diapers. After completion of that program, I was presented with the opportunity to go through the Spiritual Support program.
The Spiritual Support program helped me understand myself more, helped me understand God more, and repair and start to rebuild my relationship with Him. MVWC has supported my baby girl and me emotionally and spiritually through my journey to be closer to God and to be an outstanding mother to my baby girl.
God has truly moved within me and my life, helping me to overcome difficulties with my daughter and my health, solidifying daycare and providing financial security among other things. I’m very thankful to Miami Valley Women’s Center and all they have done to assist me and my daughter, and thank you to all who give to make this ministry possible.
